Hi Everyone,
Join FUN Mothers’ Club for an afternoon of sewing! We will be making sturdy tote bags from reused advertising banners. An experienced sewist will be there to walk you through the project, from start to finish. The project is simple, yet customizable. All materials will be provided for the first 16 people (or more if available). Participants are also welcome to bring their own fabric (see the materials list below for recommendations). There will be eight sewing machines available and no more than two people assigned to a machine at any given time. However, you are welcome to wait for a spot to open up any time during the scheduled window. The project should take about 1 hour to complete. Due to the type of activity and tools used, adults age 16 and up are welcome, but no young children. Tickets will be given out 15 minutes prior to the start of the activity.
Materials:
½ yard of heavy-weight material (such as canvas, jeans material, leather)
42 inches of 1” cotton webbing for straps
Thread
Leather needles for sewing machine
Pins or binder clips
Ruler
For this sponsored event, all materials and tools will be provided by the Fremont, Union City, Newark Mothers’ Club (FUNMC) and Alameda County Library.
Attention: This is a public event and registering for the event on our site does not guarantee a spot. Please come to the library on the day of event to get your tickets.
